The Disappearance of Little John Henry Owens
In 1876, ten year old John Henry Owens disappeared while on his way to McDonald's store in Hill's Prairie to get some sewing thread for his mother.
John Henry's disappearance set in motion a horrible chain of events that left everyone in Bastrop County shaken to the core. This play, authored by David Bragg with historical research provided by Ken Kesselus, was inspired by the true story of little John Henry Owens.
All net proceeds from the play will go to the Bobby Jenkins' Scholarship Fund, a project of the Bastrop County Bar Association, that provides $2,000 college scholarships to each of the five high schools in Bastrop County.
