Learn theater while doing theater. 
Rehearsals start in September for January shows.  No rehearsals over the holidays (Thanksgiving to January).
Engela's groups are rehearsing weekly for five shows for January's Children's Theatre Month at the Bastrop Opera House. 
Roles for ages 5-99.
Rehearsal Groups fill quickly. 
Costs from $35 to $130 per semester.

Director Engela Edwards has a BFA in Theater.  Since 1999, Engela has produced 50 production (including 24 world premières) with her company EASY Theatre which has performed in 33 venues. Engela started doing shows in Bastrop in 2001.  Since that time she’s produced and co-produced 28 productions at the Bastrop Opera House, including 15 world premieres; some of which she wrote or co-wrote.

If you need forms for a payment plan or a work scholarship, email Engela with your full contact information, and return completed forms.

If you have completed these steps, then you're registered and your Wednesday rehearsal slot is secure. 
If you have not paid a $50 deposit and committed to the entire semester fee, or if you haven't filled out payment plan or scholarship forms and returned them, then you're slot is NOT secure.  Engela had a waiting list last semester, so this is the only fair way to do this. 

TUESDAY Bastrop Classes:  Director Engela Edwards (Bastrop Community Ed handles the registration for these classes.) Learn theater while doing theater.  Engela's Tuesday groups are rehearsing for the musical OZ!  Please look at all the dates carefully.  If you have any conflicts with the rehearsal or performance dates, you must inform the director by the end of the first day of rehearsals.  Musical Performances:  January 22, 23, 29, 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 31 at 2 p.m.  OZ! is a collaborative project between the Bastrop Opera House, Bastrop Community Ed, and Engela Edwards

OZ Cast

ADULTS:  This is a rehearsal class ending in multiple performances of the musical OZ!  Teaching director Engela Edwards designed this course so busy adults have an opportunity to perform.  This fun project is perfect for performers of every experience level.  Engela has a BFA in theater and has directed many plays and musicals.  Price includes script, rehearsal CD, and two tickets!  You provide your talent, energy, positive attitude, and costume. Performers must be able to attend weekly rehearsals during the semester, plus nightly rehearsals the week leading into the performances.

Tuition: $35 / 11 weeks plus performance weeks!
Bastrop Community Ed is handling registration for this.

This class is for performers who love to sing and dance and do not mind lots of repetition, and reliably rehearse on their own outside of class time.  They will rehearse a number to be performed in OZ.  Possibly large class size, so actor needs to be able to stay focussed.  Four evening performances and one matinee.  One costume needed depending on OZ character.

Note:  Open actors who were in the Bastrop Teen Troupe last year and by audition.
Note:  Teen Troupe should be reading scripts all summer, and be making script recommendations.  Show chosen by Teen Troupe and director.

Weekly Rehearsal location:  Bastrop Opera House Studio, the yellow building immediately behind the theater.  711 Spring Street, Bastrop, Texas.

Absences: 

While being at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, we know illness and emergencies happen.  We expect that if and actor is sick that they stay home, but call the director.  Actors must be fever, diarrhea, and vomiting free for 24 hours before coming to a rehearsal. 

Director Edwards will consider each case individually to determine if missed rehearsal will keep a actor from performing his role. 

Director Edwards must be informed at registration if there are ANY rehearsal or performance conflicts. 

• Dress Rehearsal and Performance week/s: These are daily rehearsals.  See individual shows for details.

MONEY:
• Enrolling: 
• Pay the $50 non-refundable deposit due at registration by clicking the deposit button. This will hold your place in the cast/class/rehearsal slot.  You are committing to paying the entire semester fee.
• A registration form will be emailed to you for you to complete and return after you have paid your deposit.  When you pay and return your form then you will be registered.  (Or after you've returned work scholarship forms and your registration form, then you will be considered registered.)
• Full payment of the balance is due by the first day of rehearsals, unless a payment plan has been arranged in advance.  $25 late fee if not paid (or written payment arrangements made) by the first day of rehearsals. 
• You will provide your costume which must be completely ready and worn to rehearsal on the date noted in class description. 
• Work scholarships and payment plans can easily be arranged.  Contact Engela at 303-5516 for more information. 
• Cancellations:

When you register for a rehearsal slot, you are committing to the whole fee.
• In our attempt to make this experience affordable, we keep optional expense like tickets, videos, and costumes, separate from registration fees.  These fees do not cover the cost of the project, so we will expect you to sell tickets and program ads for the show.
• Parents or Caregivers: May quietly observe during rehearsals. 
• Everyone in the audience is required to have a ticket.
